About the Trauma Center at Psykologvirke

At the Trauma Center, we are building a competence center for trauma psychology.

We offer cutting-edge patient care, in addition to teaching, education and guidance of health professionals.

We also work at the societal level, aimed at a deeper cultural understanding of how trauma psychology can be the basis for everyday problems and larger societal lines of conflict.

We consider this knowledge to be crucial for public health and future generations.

Trauma treatment

Trauma treatment can not change your story, but can radically change the imprint that has settled on your body and mind.

Through trauma treatment, the body, brain and heart finally process the traumas, rather than being stuck in fear, avoidance, symptoms and destructive mindset.

Instruction

The trauma center conducts teaching in trauma psychology for clients, relatives and health professionals. We offer everything from individual online courses to continuing education in trauma treatment.

Guidance

The trauma center at Psykologvirke has some of the country's leading psychotherapy supervisors on staff, and conducts extensive guidance in trauma treatment.

Innovative treatment

All too often, it is far from the research front to clinical practice. At the Trauma Center, we want new knowledge to benefit clients as quickly as possible.

By combining established treatment models with the most up-to-date research, we tailor a treatment based on solid therapy models and apply completely new principles from innovative research.

We participate in research on MDMA and psychedelic-assisted therapy, and implement more and more of the principles and lessons from this field in our treatments.

Psykologvirke opens a specialized trauma treatment offer for people with small and large traumas, wounds and self-protection. We also offer guidance and training for health professionals.

Our goal is to be a leading competence environment in trauma treatment. The trauma center springs from the professional environment at Psykologvirke, established in 2015.

We have a team of psychologists who specialize in various recognized treatment methods for trauma.

At the Trauma Center, we develop a model for the human mind, mental disorders and the healing process, which we call trauma psychology

In this model, we have taken as our starting point psychotherapeutic models we have extensive experience in, experiences from over 1,000 therapeutic courses, research and cutting-edge knowledge from research and treatment with psychedelics for trauma, addiction and depression.

The model is complex and under development, and serves as a map for human psychology, and especially unconscious mechanisms that play out "under our radar".

The purpose of our model for trauma psychology is to show that we all experience challenges in our lives, and some of these challenges become so difficult for us that they leave traces in our body, our psychology, our relationships and our functioning.

Many who come to therapy think that they have not experienced "enough" to be able to justify their ailments, while others think that they have experienced so much pain that they can not be repaired.

Our treatment philosophy is that everyone has the right to help, and our ailments are much more similar than we would think. Often it is only the intensity of the ailments and what triggered them that sets us apart.

This gives us dignity and hope when we come for help.

Traumatic events that may need treatment are physical and psychological violence, bullying, accidents, long-term conflicts or illness. This also applies if the trauma has affected someone close to you.

One can define trauma as stressful events we have not been able to process, which create symptoms or make it difficult to function.

We have experienced that unprocessed trauma is in the background of most people who apply for therapy, even though one may not think of the events as traumatic.

We have put together a team that combines several evidence-based treatment models for trauma, such as trauma-focused cognitive therapy (TF-CBT), EMDR (Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), ISTDP (intensive dynamic short-term therapy), IFS (Internal Family Systems) and more.

Regardless, the treatment is based on your ailments in everyday life, and is tailored so that you will regain confidence, security and freedom to function in everyday life and express yourself freely and creatively with others.

Broad clinical experience combined with deep knowledge of the human mind enables us to be able to help more people and go deeper into the treatment.
