PRIVATE PSYCHOLOGIST OSLO

Nora Nord Clearing

Nora is a warm, clear and wise therapist, with a number of therapeutic specializations. She has many years of experience and expertise in the treatment of most mental disorders.

Seeking therapy can be exciting, but it can also be overwhelmingly scary. I have had the pleasure of accompanying many people from alienation, anxiety and darkness to lives of vitality and quality of life. It is amazing how much a person can grow if they are helped to face themselves and the world in a different way. I will gladly accompany you on the road.

A little about my understanding of mental health problems: Struggling mentally is part of life and we can endure a lot if we get help to understand how we feel, if we experience support and have the opportunity to influence our life situation. I understand mental illness as more stress than the individual and the surrounding system have the resources to handle. Imagine a dump truck with too heavy a load on one side. If the stress becomes overwhelming over time, we will try to take care of ourselves in various ways in order to regain a form of balance, by, for example, trying to avoid our own inner or outer world, becoming self-critical, eating too little/too much , drink too much, hurt ourselves or others, work even harder, get under the covers, stay awake, etc. In the long term, these ways of coping can create more difficulties than they solve. Many people find that they are stuck in vicious circles where they cannot find a way to take care of themselves that is constructive in the long term.

What is therapy with me? In therapy, I want to offer a space where we can work together to understand your difficulties in the context of your history and your current life situation. What factors can you influence? What is it about how you meet yourself? What is about external conditions? What is it that you may need to accept, what is it that you may need to do something about? For some, becoming aware of their resources and creating meaning for their difficulties is enough for them to feel significantly better. Others may need time to establish trust and to practice new ways of facing themselves and the world around them. Together we adapt the treatment to your needs.

Something about me: I have extensive experience from work with mental illness and addiction. My interests are in particular relational vulnerability and trauma problems, which often lie under other psychological distress such as self-esteem difficulties, anxiety, depression, pain, eating problems and addiction. I have extensive further education in, among other things, psychodynamic therapy, body-oriented therapy, EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Deep Brain Reorienting, emotion-focused therapy, integration therapy and group therapy. In addition to being a therapist, I work as a university lecturer at the Department of Psychology where I teach clinical subjects. I am also a supervisor at the Institute for Active Psychotherapy.

Some texts that can give a greater understanding of your difficulties and hope for the way forward:

The last two texts are partly humorous. Therapy is about taking yourself seriously. Being allowed not to take oneself so solemnly can also be good.

Is it really possible to get better, even when it seems completely hopeless? Quiet stop

Am I crazy to react so strongly to small things? The world seen through a window

I'm so ashamed, it makes everything so difficult. Shame in motion

Welcome.
