Are you struggling with inner turmoil, low self-esteem, sadness, painful memories, self-criticism or feelings of inadequacy? Are you in a difficult life situation, feeling overwhelmed, tired and alone? Together we can gain a deeper understanding of what creates suffering in your life, your relationship with yourself and your relationships. Perhaps you had a difficult upbringing, relationships that have been painful or experienced loss. I want to help you process, put words to and give meaning to the pain, rather than suppressing, minimizing or morbidizing the pain. Often what we struggle with comes from strategies we have tried to deal with the past from and protect ourselves, but which create difficulties for us in the present.
I offer individual therapy during the day and evening. I work mainly based on emotion-focused therapy, which has shown good effects for a number of challenges (depression, anxiety, rumination, burnout, self-image issues, developmental trauma, eating disorders, etc.). In addition, I have specialized in several processing methods and further education in Deep Brain Reorienting (DBR). DBR focuses on processing shock responses that occur in the body during frightening events or early attachment. The method focuses on subcortical brain areas that play an important role in the regulation of emotions, stress and physiological activation (alarm readiness). The processing work takes place without the need to relive or go into details from traumatic memories, which makes the method more gentle and supportive of regulation. I also have several years of experience with group therapy, and have, among other things, helped to further develop a group offering at Modum Bad with a focus on the Recovery approach, where the individual's resources and values form the basis for the treatment.
You can find Emma at the Trauma Center department, which is located at Nedre Vollgate 1 on the 5th floor.
