Are you tired of making high demands on yourself? Eirik is an experienced psychologist with in-depth expertise in self-esteem, anxiety and burnout. Read more about the help he offers.

Therapy is an investment, and therefore it is important that you experience that the time in the therapy room is well spent. My goal is to meet you in a way that makes you quickly feel that we are working on what is important to you.

At the beginning, we spend time creating a common understanding of what you want to address. Then we create a concrete plan for how we will work to get you where you want to be. The fact that we are focused does not mean that you should feel like you have to rush or perform. We work at your pace, and I will support you along the way, always with easy-to-understand and down-to-earth language. Therapy is a collaboration, but without resistance it is easy to leave the room without taking anything new with you. That is why I will also challenge you when needed.

I work particularly with people who experience burnout, low self-esteem or social anxiety. Many people I meet describe how they have stood up for others for a long time, been good and responsible, but eventually felt empty, inner turmoil or that something was telling them to stop.

In addition to working with clear symptoms such as burnout, anxiety and low self-esteem, I also meet people who want self-development and a space to understand themselves better, handle stress and life crises, strengthen their own boundaries and live more in line with what feels important.

I am interested in how we can use the wisdom found in stories and myths, and draw much of my basic philosophy from the "Hero's Journey." This model is about seeing yourself as an active protagonist in your own life story, and about meeting life's challenges in a way that allows you to grow, make good choices, and take better care of yourself.

I bring the philosophy from the Hero's Journey with me into the therapy room, as a backdrop for the work we do together.

Maybe you're wondering if my experience is relevant to exactly what you're going through right now?

I meet you with broad clinical experience, and have worked with group therapy, couples, families, children and adults. I have a background from DPS, family welfare office and private practice. Since 2018, I have supervised and taught groups with care workers, psychologists and other professionals. I have held workshops on, among other things, how to create good habits and how to use the Hero's Journey in your own life.

I have also developed and conducted courses for social anxiety with a focus on exposure. I have further education in depth psychology from NKI, where I also sat on the education committee. Staying up-to-date professionally is important to me, and I have started and run a reading group for psychodynamic psychology.

Outside of the therapy room, I am a father of a young child, interested in music, and have many years of experience with improv theatre. Improv has taught me a lot about being present in the moment, listening properly, and finding solutions to challenges that arise there and then, which I also bring into my meeting with you.

If you have any questions for me, or are wondering if I might be the right psychologist for you, you are welcome to contact me at eirik@psykologvirke.no.

Conversations can take place physically in central Oslo (Akersgata 1) or online.
