I have been working with people with various mental health challenges for many years. I take your needs as my starting point and emphasize creating a therapeutic relationship characterized by warmth, presence, and acceptance.
I have experience in treating depression, burnout, anxiety disorders (panic disorder, social anxiety, phobias, generalized anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder), complex trauma, PTSD, ADHD, autism and pain conditions, among other things.
My specialization is particularly in the treatment of conditions that arise from overwhelming life experiences – such as developmental trauma and shock trauma.
About trauma
Developmental traumas can arise early in life, often in relationships with close caregivers. They are not only about what we have experienced, but also about what we have lacked – such as security, connection and affirmation.
Shock trauma occurs when an event overwhelms the body's ability to handle stress. The nervous system can then become locked in a fight-or-flight response. Both forms of trauma can cause symptoms such as anxiety, panic attacks, sleep problems, dissociation, and emotional challenges.
Often, an important reason why symptoms persist is that we avoid feeling our body's reactions. That is why body awareness is a central part of my treatment. We explore and meet the body with curiosity and acceptance - here and now.
We are social beings. When we have been hurt in relationships, we often need to heal in relationships. By processing painful experiences, we can transform our wounds into sources of meaning and strength.I mainly work with body-oriented methods such as NeuroAffective Relational Model (NARM) and Somatic Experiencing (SE), and integrates these with psychodynamic, cognitive and mindfulness-based approaches.
At Psykologvirke we also offer medication-assisted therapy in collaboration with Axon Clinic in Oslo – an approach that is particularly used for depression, anxiety and trauma. The treatment can make it easier to move forward in the change process.
I work from home. Psychedelic Somatic Interactional Psychotherapy (PSIP), which can effectively support drug-assisted trauma treatment, or be adapted in other ways.I have studied meditation and spiritual traditions for over 25 years, which also inspires me in my work as a therapist.
My desire is to create space for deeper contact with the body, emotions and what gives life direction and power.Conversations are offered both physically and digitally, in Norwegian, Swedish and English.
