I work as a psychologist with adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, self-criticism, relationships, trauma, eating disorders or other stresses that have lasted over time.
Many people who come to therapy with me find that their emotions are either overwhelming or difficult to understand. Some feel a lot of anxiety, shame, sadness or anger. Others feel stuck, closed off or unsure of what they really feel and need. For many, it is also about patterns that repeat themselves – in relationships, in the way they treat themselves, or in how they handle stress and pressure in everyday life.
With me, you don't need to have everything ready before you come. We start where you are, and together we try to understand what has become difficult, what you want to change, and what can help you further. I am committed to the therapy room being a place where even what is felt to be shameful, contradictory, or difficult to put into words can be accommodated.
The goal of therapy is not only to understand why you are having a hard time, but to help you become more confident in yourself and gain more freedom and room for action in your life.
I am a psychologist by training at the University of Bergen and am in the final stages of my specialization as a specialist psychologist with a specialization in emotion-focused therapy. In addition, I have extensive experience with both different types of cognitive behavioral therapy and mentalization-based therapy. I have broad experience from specialist health services and private practice, and have worked extensively with eating disorders, various types of addiction, as well as common problems such as anxiety, depression, burnout and traumatic experiences.
In addition to clinical work, I am interested in professional communication and psychology in the public. I work, among other things, in the Journal of the Norwegian Psychological Association, where I also review professional books.
